Park in the car park opposite the Nivéoles holiday centre.
Follow the road, then turn right onto the summer path just after the swimming pool, signposted "Penon". After a short climb, the path turns left and runs alongside a fir grove to reach the hamlet of Panloup. Go behind the houses to catch up with a path that descends slightly through meadows. At the last fence post, a snowshoe sign indicates Le Penon. Follow the road to the entrance of the hamlet.
Stay on the lower road and take the road behind the fences. Gradually, and always on a level surface, you will come to a bridge where the road begins to climb.
Follow this road as far as the junction signposted "Morbier" and turn left. Continue uphill. Before the first bend in the road leading up to the Morbier farm, take the downhill path on your left, signposted Le Penon.
After about 20 minutes of descent, you're on your way back.
This walk ends on the same route as the outward journey.
