Visit in French
Ten thousand years ago, as the last gigantic glaciers that covered the Bauges region receded, allowing herds of reindeer to settle there, passing humans settled in a refuge that would much later be called the Bange Cave. It overlooks the Chéran Valley, allowing our ancestors to protect themselves from danger.
This cave, carved out over millennia by waters seeking a passage between the limestone rocks of the massif and the ice of times gone by, is today a window into the contemplation of these mechanisms that are beyond our comprehension.
The half-day tour begins with a short walk of about twenty minutes to reach the entrance of the cave. You will then explore an underground gallery, which will lead you to the lake chamber. This small deep-sea lake is a window onto the aquatic activity taking place beneath your feet. For the more adventurous, you can try your hand at finding another exit, just as the great explorers of the underground world did. For the more contemplative, return via the same route.
This outing is led by DezOterra, a caving and canyoning professional.
